NAS Whidbey Island, WA

Cover.JPG

Project Description:

This repair project involved the installation of a new 12” carbon steel jet fuel pipeline including pigging facilities, isolation valves, and a leak detection system. The pipeline ran approximately 8,000 LF along base roads and 4,000 LF along county and city roads with a fiber optic control cable running the entire length of the pipeline for the pump control system. Along the route there were 3 each – road crossings with 24” diameter bores (wax filled), a CERCLA site (Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act), archeological exposures, and wetland mitigation. Upon completion of the new pipeline, the 30,000 LF of existing pipeline was drained, cleaned, and abandoned in place.
